About me
I started working as a Psychotherapist in 2010. My clinical experience has been gained via the NHS, third sector, and private practice. Included in this is creating and co-ordinating two specialist services for survivors of sexual abuse in Leeds. My working experience has taught me to actively listen, share my thinking, and offer respect and kindness throughout. I take care to consider a person's mental health in the context of their life experiences, values and beliefs, family / community culture, and systemic factors in wider society that can empower or oppress us. I have extensive experience supporting survivors of sexual abuse. I am practised in supporting victims of crimes going through the criminal justice system - known as 'pre-trial therapy'. I am experienced and trained in supporting LGBT+ people, as a Pink Therapy accredited practitioner. Outside of clinical work I am an author, speaker, trainer, and (occasional) activist. I believe that systemic societal change needs to happen to improve mental health, for everyone. I share all the above experience with counsellors & psychotherapists who seek supervision for their own therapeutic practice.
