About me

Counselling and Psychotherapy is a journey to empower, transform and guide you to find the resources within you to heal yourself. As your counsellor and therapist I do my best to make you feel heard, listened and comfortable to speak about what has brought you to counselling. When a client tells me that they are anxious or depressed I don't claim to know what it means and that I know best. I work with you to unpack what this means to you. Together we explore how the current problem has been shaped by your unconscious mental life. I believe that you don't have to suffer from mental health symptoms to be looking for therapy. At times you feel lost, you behave or react to things that you can't find reason or explanation for. Or you question things and need a place to talk and explore what's happening in your life. Therapy and counselling can help you to find relief, unpick, untangle the knots to find a way through. Therapy helps you explore the historical, cultural, family, psychosocial and psychosexual factors that have led you to form certain patterns of behaviours and views of yourself. These patterns may have helped to serve you at a certain time in your life but this may not be the case any longer. As well as talking in the counselling sessions, I leave it open to you to speak about your dreams, bring in any art work, pieces of literature or other materials that you want to in the sessions. South Asian Heritage Therapy My therapy experience also involves working with the South Asian heritage. Being a South Asian therapist, it makes it simpler for clients from the Asian background to speak to a therapist from a similar background who has an insight into the culture and traditional nuances. I am also a certified couples counsellor and have experience of working with couples presenting with: New parents Trans-generational trauma Divorce Affairs, unfaithful Culture Mixed marriages Interfaith relationships Family/in-laws Coming from a South Asian background I have an insight and understanding of cultural, religious and traditional expectations and demands it can place on the individual and a couple. My therapy approach is influenced by: My clinical training and my own personal psychotherapeutic journey. My therapeutic experience of working with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, couples counselling, attachment trauma, racism, migration, relationship issues, cultural identity issues, marital problems 12 years of working within a diverse community including European, White British, Black and South Asian ethnic groups.
