Training and qualifications
My qualification and core training is in Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counselling, and I also draw on other approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. I work in a relational way, which means that the connection we build together is a key part of the therapy itself. Psychodynamic therapy explores how our early experiences and relationships shape the way we think, feel, and relate to others in the present. Together, we’ll look at how these past influences may be affecting your life now, helping you to understand yourself more deeply and feel more at ease in the world. Sometimes, these patterns are outside of our awareness and we might not realise why we react in certain ways or repeat behaviours that don’t serve us. In therapy, I’ll support you in making sense of these experiences so you can gain clarity, feel more in control, and create lasting change in how you live and relate to others. I also take part in ongoing specialist training and professional development, keeping my skills and knowledge up to date on a wide range of issues, including sexual abuse, perinatal trauma and baby loss, boarding school syndrome, suicide, criminality, domestic abuse, and LGBT issues. I work affirmatively with neurodivergent people and the LGBTQ+ community.
