About me

What's keeping you awake at night? Whether it’s day to day life getting you down, a specific, current issue or something from your past that keeps cropping up and bothering you, let’s talk about it. I am Sarah. I am a qualified counsellor. Since 2018, I have supported clients through many issues such as infertility, bereavement, loss, grief, anxiety, worry, chronic health issues and more.  Clients often come to me to talk about their bereavement following the loss of a loved one. This can be recent or past, human or animal. Counselling offers the time you need to talk about how your loss is impacting you. It can be somewhere for you to make sense of the emotions you are feeling and to find ways of coping. The term ‘loss’ also encompasses many other things in life and being able to identify and name life experiences as losses worthy of grief can be an important part of understanding how you are feeling.  Infertility/Assisted Fertility Treatment If having a baby is something you desire, you may well be grieving an anticipated future or the opportunity to parent. The threat of infertility is extremely distressing and research shows that women tend to assume more responsibility, feeling a sense of failure and finding it harder to feel positive or hopeful when facing treatment.  It is not uncommon to: Feel lost and uncertain about what your future holds.  Be angry with your body.  Feel ashamed and a sense of 'failure' that something 'natural' isn't happening for you.  Feel left behind as friends go on to have their second and third babies.  Find it really hard to plan or look forward to anything right now.  Have an overwhelming sense that you're running out of time.  Feel jealous or resentful of others.  If this sounds like you, I want to tell you right now that these are all normal responses to what you are going through. They are valid and important and I'd love to hear from you.  Why choose to work with me?  Because like you, I’ve been there. I have my own lived experience of multiple chronic illness and infertility/IVF treatment. While sessions will always be focused on you, I combine my professional training and personal experience to support you with understanding and compassion. Just knowing that your therapist understands and has been there can make it feel easier to open up.  How can I help?  Together, we can find ways to help you move from a place of overwhelm & self-blame to one that is softer & more compassionate. Counselling can help you to process and validate the complex feelings that accompany health and fertility problems. We can think about ways of creating healthier boundaries, managing your emotional triggers and reconnecting to a life outside of fertility treatment and other health problems.  It is also time to vent and express your true feelings (jealousy? anger? resentment? hopelessness? fear? worry?) without then being assigned a different, more positive one.  Whether you are at the beginning and are considering starting treatment or are on a waiting list, have already begun or have reached the end of your journey, I'll be here to support you at whatever stage you find yourself.  What happens next?  If you've reached this section, thank you for taking the time to read, I'm sure you've seen a good few profiles already. If you’re still not sure but a little more curious, I offer a free 20-minute introductory call so you can ask any questions you might have and to get a feel for me as your potential counsellor. Just hit the 'email me' button and I'll get back to you asap.
