Integrative counsellorAbout Me
I understand that life can be a struggle at times; events and experiences can leave us feeling lost, isolated or directionless. At such times finding the strength to reach out for help can feel like a big step and it is important that your search leads you to someone you can trust. I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist and I provide a warm, empathic and confidential space in which to support my clients. I seek to build strong and trusting bonds with my clients which form the foundations of a safe relationship through which together we can explore the difficult thoughts and feelings that are impacting on their wellbeing and happiness.
"Learn your theories as well as you can, but put them aside when you touch the miracle of the living soul," Carl Gustav Jung,( 1928).
The above quote epitomises the way in which I work. I have an extensive understanding of theories gained over 6 years of study and am trained in a number of different approaches/modalities. However I work as an integrative therapist, adapting the way I work to met the particular and unique needs of each of my clients. I find this allows me to make the meaningful and authentic connection that is needed for clients to feel safe when working through painful experiences and emotions.
The pandemic has brought additional struggles and challenges for many and in order to ensure I could fully support my clients I have undertaken training in online counselling with the Open University in conjunction with the NHS. This enables me to work equally well with clients remotely as when meeting in person. My website provides information on arrangements I have put in place to ensure clients who prefer to see me in person are kept safe during Covid.
I currently work for the North East London NHS Trust and the charity MIND, where I manage a large team of volunteer counsellors. I have experience in helping people with a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, sexual abuse, relationship difficulties, workplace difficulties and bullying , bereavement and childhood trauma. I have also done a great deal of work with people in a transitional stage of life and people who may be struggling with questions of identity, self-esteem or in finding direction and purpose in life
Are you are finding life difficult right now; perhaps you are feeling stuck or trapped, unable to move forward because of what you are enduring, or you may be seeking to better understand who you really are or what you really want in life?
Please get in touch if you would like to find out more about how I work and how I might be able to support you. We can arrange a mutually suitable time for a 20- 30 minute discussion (at no fee) in which we can talk through what's going on for you right now and how I might be able to help.
