About me

I am a National Counselling Society accredited Counsellor and work with clients living with anxiety, stress, depression, low confidence and self-esteem, relationship issues, bereavement and other life crises. I practice Emotional Therapeutic Counselling, EMDR, and as a qualified yoga teacher, am also able to draw on my experience to use meditation.Emotional Therapeutic Counselling is a gentle, integrative, person-centred talking therapy. It is suitable for all ages, and offers support in a safe environment for all forms of emotional dis-ease.It is a talking therapy, which is client led and interactive, using creative techniques designed to bypass the logical mind and work at an emotional level. I help clients to uncover, explore and express feelings in a safe confidential and supportive environment, whilst at the same time working together to find strategies to manage current difficulties and improve self-esteem and self-worth.The aim of ETC is to use the clients' own natural inner healing ability and, thereby, bring a greater self-knowledge and personal strength, from which they can cope with and enrich their lives more effectively. As a therapist I always endeavour to empower you, the client. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. EMDR is a method that accelerates the processing of traumatic, frozen memories and resolves fixed behavioural patterns. Clients often report spontaneous insights into themselves which are linked to traumatic memories, which empower them to comprehend new feelings, thoughts and actions. EMDR is a resource-oriented method that influences neural pathways, re-evaluating cognitions and emotions are thereby igniting the self-healing process. It uses bi-lateral stimulation eg both brain hemispheres are activated primarily through eye movements or with tactile or acoustic stimulation.
