About Me

ABOUT ME (She/Her)

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor with some 8 years experience and a professional member of the UKCP. (UKCP Membership indicates that I have been trained to an advanced clinical level and academic level 7. Renewed annually, my membership also requires that I continue my learning through undertaking annual continuing professional development. Furthermore, the UKCP designation of Professional Pyschotherapist is recognised by the UK Professional Standards Authority.)  I am also a Member of the BACP.

I strive to be an honest, reflective, open and curious practitioner and to provide a comfortable and confidential exploratory space.    I work relationally and I have a particular interest in working with clients who have experienced Trauma, whether these are one-off experiences or more complex, like those arising out of childhood neglect, physical, sexual or mental abuse.  A key focus of this collaborative journey is processing what adaptive patterns of behaviour and relating were established through these early experiences in an effort to withstand them;  what impact these patterns are having in the present both positive and negative and to find ways forward towards aceptance and/or change.

Futher information about me is available on my LinkedIn profile at www.linkedin.com/in/mary-flynn-235a171b7

ONLINE

I currently work online using the secure video calling platform Zoom.

MY APPROACH

I work relationally and I am integratively trained.   I am experienced in the use of techniques and strategies from different therapeutic approaches. These include relational, person-centred, humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural approaches and trauma-informed therapies. This deep and wide understanding of different methods, enables me to offer a flexible and holistic approach specifically formulated for a client's individual needs.

And while I have a particular interest in working with Trauma, I also work with clients experiencing issues arising out of negative experiences in relationships, stress, abuse, depression, anxiety, a difficult childhood, workplace concerns and career issues, bereavement,  pregnancy, ageing, low self-esteem, or a combination of factors.

I encourage and facilitate active client participation and find that the strength of our therapeutic working alliance, is core to the quality of outcome for clients. I strive to build a dynamic, non-judgemental, supportive relationship, within a professional relational framework of mutual confidentiality and trust.
