Katie Vanstone
Integrative psychotherapistAbout Me
My name is Katie - I’m an integrative relational therapist offering short, mid and long-term therapy in all major fields of psychotherapy and counselling. Typically, this might involve psychodynamic, existential, CBT and person-centred work, or a combination of all of these. Many people don’t know what type of therapy they want or what to expect from the process of therapy itself - they just know they are in need of professional support. Regardless of the theoretical orientation of my work, the heart of my approach is to forge a strong and supportive relationship with each client I see, allowing self-reflection, change and personal growth to happen. Confidentiality, empathy and non-judgment are key to my practice and help create a safe environment to talk openly about what’s important to you, with a view to achieving the best possible therapeutic outcome.
Whether you’ve woken up today at rock bottom; need help with a niggling problem or a full-blown emotional crisis; or perhaps you feel it’s time to challenge yourself to fulfil your innate potential, my therapy is designed to match your individual needs. This may involve helping you to explore and understand unhealthy relationships or unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour; formulating achievable personal goals and working towards these; or ‘just’ having me there as a trained professional to listen and really hear you.
I’m a partner at The Practice, a private psychotherapy setting in East Molesey and I also run a private practice in Surbiton. I worked at a London university for a number of years as a wellbeing practitioner where I gained deep insight to the complex needs of young adults in education and I frequently work with student clients. I’ve also worked as a therapist in a busy NHS GP practice.
My former career was as a lawyer in the City, practising corporate employment law. I have a special therapeutic interest in working with people suffering from workplace stress and struggling with employment-related issues; helping clients suffering the effects of trauma and PTSD; and supporting teenagers and young adults. I hold a current DBS certificate and am a MHFA-trained mental health first aider for young people.
I offer face to face, telephone and online video sessions and my fee starts from £80 per 50 minute session for adults. You can contact me by email at [email protected] or at [email protected] or by telephone: 07803 726556.
I offer all potential clients a free initial telephone consultation in confidence.
