About me

I’m Katie Vanstone, an integrative relational psychotherapist working with adults and young adults in Surbiton, East Molesey and online. My approach is steady, collaborative and grounded in the belief that therapy works best when the relationship feels safe, human and genuinely reflective. Clients come to me when they’re overwhelmed, stuck in old patterns or navigating a crisis they can’t manage alone. Some feel burnt out or anxious; others are struggling with identity, relationships, loss, work pressure or a sense that life has quietly drifted off track. You don’t need to know what type of therapy you want — my job is to help you make sense of what’s happening and find a way forward that feels doable and meaningful. I draw on psychodynamic, relational, existential and CBT theory, but the work itself is personal and tailored. Together we might explore recurring emotional patterns, build self-awareness, steady anxiety, process trauma, understand difficult relationships or develop healthier ways of coping. Therapy can be challenging at times, but my style is supportive, attuned and non-judgemental. I have extensive experience with students and young adults through my work at a London university, and I frequently support clients struggling with academic pressure, burnout, perfectionism and overwhelm. I also have a particular interest in workplace stress and employment-related difficulties, informed by my former career as a City lawyer. I am a partner at The Practice in East Molesey and also run a private practice in Surbiton. I offer in-person, online and telephone sessions. Fees start from £100 for a 50-minute appointment, and I’m happy to offer an initial phone consultation so we can think together about what you need.
