About me

Hello, I’m Joanna — a qualified, experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist, and a registered member of the BACP. I offer a calm, confidential space where you can talk freely and begin to make sense of what’s going on in your life. People often come to me feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low, or emotionally stuck — sometimes with a clear reason, sometimes with a sense that something just doesn’t feel right. You might be navigating a difficult relationship, facing burnout, or struggling with low self-worth. Many of the clients I work with are dealing with anxiety, depression, or long-standing patterns that no longer serve them. Whatever you're facing, you don’t have to go through it alone. I work in a pluralistic way, which means I tailor therapy to suit your individual needs, drawing on a range of approaches including person-centred, psychodynamic, and CBT-informed techniques. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all — it’s important to find a way of working that feels right for you. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a midwife, which gives me a deep understanding of the emotional and physical complexities around pregnancy, birth, and fertility. This insight enriches my therapeutic work, especially when supporting individuals and couples through fertility and infertility journeys, including IVF, miscarriage, and donor conception. I offer both in-person and online sessions, and I’m happy to answer any questions you might have before booking.

Fee structure

To begin, please contact me via email or phone to share a bit about your situation. This initial conversation will help determine if my approach is suitable for you.   Next, we will schedule a 50-minute initial consultation to discuss your situation in more detail and get to know each other.   If we mutually decide to proceed, I recommend an initial series of six weekly sessions, each lasting 50 minutes. When booked as a package, these six initial sessions are offered at a discounted rate of £65 each. Following these sessions, we will review your progress together and discuss whether further sessions would be beneficial. This could involve scheduling a specific number of additional sessions or moving to an open-ended arrangement, tailored to your ongoing needs. My standard fee is £70 per session, whether in person, online, or over the phone.

Training and qualifications

I hold a First Class Honours BSc in Counselling from the University of East London and a Diploma of Higher Education in Midwifery from St George’s, University of London, where I also practiced as a midwife. This unique combination of clinical and therapeutic experience allows me to bring both emotional depth and practical insight to my work, especially when supporting clients through life transitions, health-related challenges, or fertility journeys. As a pluralistic therapist, I believe that therapy should be flexible, collaborative, and responsive to your individual needs. I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach — instead, I draw on a range of therapeutic models, including person-centred, existential, psychodynamic, and CBT-informed techniques, to create a tailored experience that works best for you. In our sessions, you’ll be an active participant in shaping the direction of your therapy. Your goals and preferences matter, and we’ll adapt our work together as you grow and change. Whether we’re exploring the past, working through present struggles, or planning for the future, my aim is to provide a supportive, meaningful space that helps you move toward lasting emotional wellbeing.
