About me
My Approach to Therapy As a BACP accredited Integrative Counsellor, my practice is built on compassion, curiosity and working together. My approach is fundamentally compassion-based, identity-affirming and anti-oppressive. I genuinely believe therapy isn't a one-size-fits-all solution, so my priority is always to create a secure, relaxed and non-judgemental environment where you feel able to explore your thoughts and feelings openly and honestly. We work as a collaborative partnership, ensuring that decisions are made with your autonomy as the priority. Being an "integrative" therapist means I draw upon several evidence-based approaches, always tailoring our work to your specific needs. At the heart of my practice is Person-Centred Counselling, which focuses on building a genuine, empathetic relationship where you feel valued and understood. I also use Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) to help us understand and challenge unhelpful patterns by exploring the links between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. We can use Psychodynamic thinking to see how past experiences might be influencing your current challenges. I often bring in practical DBT skills to help you manage difficult emotions, handle distress and improve relationships. Finally, I may use Brief Solution-Focused Therapy to focus on your existing strengths and resources to find meaningful paths toward positive change. My Skills and Experience I have specialised training and experience in providing an explicitly identity-affirming space for the Neurodivergent community, including support for both Autism and ADHD. My practice is also a welcoming and inclusive space for the LGBTQ+ community and those exploring Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity (GSRD), including trans identities, polyamory, and ethical non-monogamy. A significant focus of my work is helping clients understand and work with internalised shame, self-loathing and internal criticism, helping you cultivate greater self-understanding and transform self-criticism into self-kindness. I also work extensively with clients navigating anxiety and stress, depression, relationship and communication difficulties and the unique emotional challenges of living with chronic health conditions. In our work healing from trauma, we will move at your pace in a safe space to process painful experiences, always focusing on building your resilience.
