About me
Hello, I’m Gareth. I am an integrative counsellor with a deep commitment to providing an inclusive, anti-oppressive space for those who have spent their lives feeling a little bit on the outside. If you identify as queer, trans, neurodivergent or just different, you might be looking for a therapist who genuinely gets it. My practice is tailored to help you navigate challenges like autistic burnout, the exhaustion of masking, chronic anxiety and internalised shame. I also offer robust support for Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity (GSRD), which encompasses polyamory and ethical non-monogamy. Because I have lived experience as a disabled, queer and neurodivergent person, my work is rooted in genuine empathy. I know what it means to exist in a world that isn't always accommodating. In our sessions we will take things at your own pace. I blend several evidence-based approaches to discover what actually works for your brain and lifestyle. We will explore the underlying emotional patterns shaping your current struggles, develop practical tools for emotional regulation and build a foundation of deep self-compassion. Therapy with me is a collaborative journey where you can express yourself freely and safely.

Finding the right therapist is a big decision, so I offer a free 20-minute introductory chat via phone or secure video. This gives us a chance to connect without any pressure and see if my therapeutic style suits you. My standard session rate is £70 for a 50-minute appointment. I also provide a £60 concession rate. This is available for students, keyworkers, trainee counsellors, pensioners, refugees and anyone who is unemployed or on a low income. Please note that concession rates apply to online sessions only and should be mentioned during our initial consultation.

Training and qualifications
I am a registered and BACP-accredited Integrative Counsellor. I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from Milton Keynes College alongside a degree from the University of Northampton and a Level 6 Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision. I have been practising for over a decade, supporting people through complex life transitions and mental health challenges. Before moving into private practice I spent many years in the charity sector. During this time I led a city-wide mental health service for young people and delivered targeted community support for LGBTQ+ groups. My integrative framework means I am fundamentally person-centred. However I actively weave in techniques from Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) to assist with emotional regulation, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) to tackle unhelpful thoughts and psychodynamic theory to make sense of past experiences. I also undergo continuous professional development, specifically in neurodiversity-affirming practices for ADHD and autism.
