About me
I offer a safe therapeutic space where you will be heard with compassion and without judgement, where you will be treated as the unique individual you are and seen through the eyes of years of experience and training. I have seen the power of careful listening with presence to bring about meaningful change. I am an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist in London with 25 years’ experience in mental health settings and ten years in Private Practice. I help individuals and couples resolve issues such as (social) anxiety, depression, relationship and family problems, life crises and transitions, questions around identity, mental health distress, addiction, body image and physical health issues, emotional numbness and distress states (trauma), as well as ageing and retirement issues - to name but a few. Originally from Germany, I am also passionate about issues of belonging in a multi-cultural society and offer therapy both in English and German. My background is mental health nursing, and my specialist position in addictions involved counselling many family members and parents over the years. This resulted in my focus on couples therapy and mediation as one area of expertise. My position in GP surgeries allowed me to work with clients from all walks of life and gain invaluable clinical knowledge of a wide range of issues. My work in private practice in recent years has alerted me to the apparent rise in all kinds of trauma (PTSD, complex trauma, and emotional abuse), so I came to specialise in this area as I could see the growing need. Whatever your reason for therapy may be, we will assess the best way forward for you and work with you towards the best possible outcome. I see the strength in my approach in that I highly value the relationship with my clients. I view the therapeutic relationship as a shared journey, where we navigate the matters on your mind together. This is a collaborative journey, created and driven by you and shaped by the fresh approach you’ll be offered. You are the expert on your own life, yet we can all benefit from a skilled perspective on our difficulties. Whether you are facing longer-term issues or a recent struggle, I am committed to be your guide and support from day one of your therapy. .
