About me
Hello. I’m a warm and empathetic therapist. My approach is humanistic, person-centred and trauma-informed, but I'm also flexible about finding the right approach for you. If you have suffered trauma of any kind, unresolved feelings such as anger, anxiety, shame, or guilt may remain with you. Triggers can come up out of nowhere, leaving you feeling frozen, anxious, wanting to run away or overwhelmed. Or, you may notice that you repeatedly default to behaviours that don’t reflect who you really are. I can help you understand these reactions and to learn how reduce their impact. I also understand how important it is to have someone calm and supportive who listens deeply and doesn't judge. Life can be tough, and bringing things into the open can be painful, so we will work at a pace that feels OK for you. I also work with neurodiversity, including autism, ADHD and Asperger’s. Whether you suspect you may be neurodiverse or have had a diagnosis (including late in life), we can explore what it has been like for you to live in a neurotypical world. If you are finding that you’ve outgrown the strategies you always relied on to fit in and cope, we can reflect on ways to make things work more comfortably for you going forward. And how do I look after myself while working to help other people? For me, long hikes in nature under open skies, close to trees, water and wildlife always brings me back in touch with myself and I feel my shoulders drop. My website is called ‘humanbeinghumanmoving’ because I know that physical movement, combined with encouraging mind and body to work together, forms a powerful, healing resource for all humans. Not only that, observing our spontaneous body movements can bring profound and sometimes unexpected insights. Warm regards Constance www.humanbeinghumanmoving.com
