PsychologistAbout Me
After a life-changing event or a chronic illness, getting back to everyday life can seem daunting and it is often difficult to know where to start. Having an experienced psychologist to support you through these times can assist with this transition and help you to better understand yourself, your relationships and how you experience and respond to the world around you post illness or event.
I feel passionately about coaching and know from my own experience how transforming it can be. It assisted me to deal with chronic pain and supported my recovery journey/returning to work after a life threatening illness.
I am an Associate Fellow, Chartered Psychologist registered with the British Psychological Society and as a HCPC Practitioner Psychologist. I am based in Staffordshire and have 20 years' experience practicing in both the private and public sector (NHS and DWP).
I am also the founder of OutdoorCure, an innovative enterprise, blending psychological techniques with the therapeutic benefits of the outdoors. Since 2016, I have offered walk and talk therapy as an alternative to the traditional indoors approach. Many clients find it easier to open up and discuss difficult subjects in the outdoors as well as gained the additional benefits that being outdoors in a natural setting brings.
I draw upon a number of different types of psychological therapy (Solution Focused Therapy / Cognitive Behavioural Therapy / Compassion Focussed Therapy / Mindfulness / Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to offer you a tailored service to meet your individual needs.
My expertise in Occupational Psychology provides me with a valuable additional method of assessment and the ability to offer specialist advice in the vocational field such as return to work plans and vocational guidance with people who have experienced chronic illness, brain injury and mental health difficulties.
From my extensive experience in both private and public practice I have helped people to overcome a range of difficulties to include:
Depression Anxiety
Stress Chronic pain
Brain Injury Chronic illness
Return to work Career Progression
Loss of purpose and identity Lack of quality of life
Self confidence Bullying and harassment
I provide a safe confidential space to allow you to explore your feelings and/or situation. The first session is an initial assessment and a chance for us both to discuss what your situation is and how best I might be able to assist you on this journey. From there, we agree a way forward, for example, you may want weekly or fortnightly sessions, hourly or 90-minute sessions.
