Dr Ajay Khandelwal
Psychoanalytic psychotherapistAbout Me
Hi, I am experienced at working with a wide range of adults, including successful professionals from finance, artistic, legal and scientific backgrounds. I am trained as a psychoanalytical psychotherapist, which means I am experienced in listening to deeper communications, including unconscious processes and dynamics. I also have an interest in intergenerational family patterns and dynamics and how they affect the individual. I view the psychotherapy process as a livey and engaging encounter, and can work with adults seeking growth and development, as well as those facing more profound difficulties.
I've worked in the mental health field for over 20 years. My first job was working in a therapeutic community for adults experiencing schizophrenia; after that I ran a drug and alcohol service for adults in the criminal justice system; many years later I founded a free inner city psychotherapy service.
I read PPE at Oxford, then trained as a sociologist. My PhD research explored the influence of transgenerational family dynamics on individual life paths.
I enjoy working with individual, couples and groups. I am in full-time private practice and work from consulting rooms in central London, near London Bridge and Oxford Circus.
