About me
Hi, I'm Abbie. I am passionate about making therapy more accessible to all and removing any stigma attached to seeking help so you can better work through the challenges that life throws at you. I believe that everyone deserves the chance to be content and fulfilled in life, unhampered by issues, past or present. We all need support and a helping hand at times to make this happen. This is why I offer counselling, psychotherapy, and wellbeing support to adults who are struggling with the challenges that life has thrown at them. My Approach - friendly, relaxed, informal & effective My service is a professional, impartial, and totally confidential space for you to heal by expressing and exploring your emotions and find a positive way to move forward in your life. This can be by the convenience and flexibility of video call or phone - i have limited availability for in-person sessions. Most of my clients find online options suit their busy lives and allows me to work with clients the world over. Whilst professional, I work in a relaxed and informal way which experience has shown me is hugely beneficial in clients feeling supported, understood and able to open-up - getting to the root of issues/concerns quickly and effectively. I believe a flexible, client-centered approach is crucial for progress to be most effective. So, in addition to counselling and psychotherapy, I also offer hypnotherapy and reiki as complementary tools to supplement healing, either alongside other therapies or in their own right. I have found that using them in conjunction with talking therapy provides a unique and powerful healing experience. Different approaches work for different people so I offer bespoke packages combining one or several of these tools depending upon your needs, preferences, and desires. If you want to find out more, please get in touch or view my website www.claddaghcounselling.com . My Background & Experience I have an extensive background working with people from all walks of life and experience. Over the course of my entire career, I’ve helped a wide range of people who have suffered a variety of different traumas in their lives; from those who have heightened stress and anxiety due to the breakdown of a relationship or being a victim of crime, to those who have struggled with grief after the loss of a family member or loved one. My experience also extends to those who have suffered domestic violence or sexual, emotional, and physical abuse, both historic and continuing. Working with these brave individuals has helped me develop a deep understanding of how these experiences can have a lasting negative, and sometimes invisible, impact on your life. It is common for these types of experiences to leave you struggling with feelings of anxiety, depression, despair and low self-esteem. You may feel lost, lacking in meaning and direction in your life, or have self-defeating behaviours that prevent you from reaching your full potential. Everyone’s response to trauma and negative life experiences is different, and each one is valid. It would be impossible to list every variation here, so please get in touch to discuss any emotional problem you want support to overcome. Often we don't even realise what we have experienced is trauma, but it is impacting on our life in a negative way and we need a bit of help to move through it. Often emotional wounds are inflicted when we are very young. We are quick to trivialise our childhood experiences, but sometimes the damage can be deep and lasting and present in our adult lives in negative ways. Progress in therapy can be made quickly, or sometimes it is a longer journey, but seeing people struggle and yet thrive on the other side of these issues is a deeply fulfilling experience and proves that anyone can change their life for the better and deserves to be the best version of themselves. Let me help you to live your best life How therapy can help All our sessions aim to give you space to relax, talk about, express and explore your concerns in a constructive way. This allows understanding, processing and release of issues that have held you back so that you can heal, grow and move forward with your life positively.
