About me
As a psychoanalytic psychotherapist I work with what people bring and at a pace that enables them to start making sense of whatever is troubling them. I trained as an intercultural therapist and have always worked interculturally, and I have a wide range of life and professional experience and training, but every therapy is new and personal - it's about exploring what it is that is troubling you and how you came to feel that way - essentially what happened to you - and exploring new ways of being that feel more comfortable, more 'right', and more you. I have a lot of experience of working with people struggling with cultural, sexual and other identity issues; people feeling uncomfortable in themselves or their lives (often manifest as depression or anxiety, or a general disaffection with everything); people who are concerned they may have a 'mental health problem' like dissociation, or falling apart or disintegration, or feeling overwhelmed; and people who have experienced abuse of various kinds including emotional and/or sexual abuse, or rape, by strangers, family members, or partners. I have worked with people from rough sleepers to business owners and senior executives, and from just turned adult to well into retirement, and of various genders and sexualities, and multiple ethnicities and cultural backgrounds. Basically I try to work with you and what you bring as the unique person you are within your unique cultural and social environment, to explore how whatever is troubling you came about, and to support you in developing your own way of being that feels most right for you within your world.
