About me

Do you feel stressed and disconnected, perhaps moving between numbing and activation, feeling stuck and powerless? Are your relationships and sense-of-self suffering? Perhaps you like the idea of counselling, but also sense that you need support that has a wider view - that doesn't solely focus on your mind and your thoughts, but on all of you. You may already understand why certain things feel hard for you, but still feel unable to calm your nervous system or release that constant feeling of activation or exhaustion. My approach seeks to create awareness around emotions and thoughts through gentle curiosity, whilst also taking moments of pause to notice how they have landed in the body. Working out where patterns and blockages can be felt and released through resources like breathwork, grounding, tracking, tapping, self-contact and powerful visualizations. I have a background in working with local women's centres, drug and alcohol services and low-cost counselling agencies, supporting adults around issues like substance misuse, domestic violence, complex trauma, deprivation, relationship difficulties, bereavement, and a range of mental health difficulties, through therapeutic groups and individual sessions. I now offer in-person and online sessions to private adult clients from a room at Newent Osteopaths, a relaxed and welcoming location in Newent, Gloucestershire, with free parking nearby.

I offer a free initial 20-minute telephone consultation, so we can decide whether we would like to work together. If we decide to go ahead, I will send you my paperwork to read through and complete, and a link to my YouTube channel of somatic resources and helpful things to know. My sessions last for 50-minutes and can be either weekly or fortnightly, depending upon your needs. I currently have some available slots during Tuesday afternoon / evening, Wednesday afternoon, Thursday afternoon, and Friday morning, but if this doesn't work for you, do get in touch and we can discuss options. My in-person sessions are £50 and my online sessions are £40, to be paid at least 48 hours prior. You are free to end sessions at any time, but I would ask for at least 2 weeks notice where possible, to ensure that we can build an ending that feels as therapeutic as possible for you.

Training and qualifications

I use my somatic training to help you notice what is happening underneath your thoughts and feelings, in the body. We pay attention to the signals of the nervous system, building awareness of sensations, and using gentle tools like grounding, breathwork, tapping, movement, and slow orientation to promote safety. Visualization can help us to explore creatively, leaning into the imagination and growing feelings of empowerment. My psychodynamic training helps us to bring your unconscious patterns and habits into the light. Gently, and with compassion, gaining understanding and creating meaning around these old, familiar ways of being. My person-centred training informs the way I will bring myself, as your therapist, as we embark on our journey together. I aim to be led by you, offering warmth, empathy, acceptance, authenticity and respect, at all times.
