About me

I’m a Consultant Clinical Psychologist offering structured, evidence‑based therapy for adults who want clarity, containment, and a sense of direction. I believe therapy works best when you know what we’re working on and why, so we build a clear plan together from the start. My approach is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion‑Focused Therapy (CFT), alongside Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and integrated, trauma‑informed methods. I focus on helping you understand your values, develop practical skills and self-compassion, and move towards a more meaningful life — not just short‑term symptom relief. I have extensive experience in forensic, crisis, and high‑risk consultancy roles within the NHS. This means I’m comfortable with complexity, intensity, and the kinds of disclosures people often fear will be “too much”. You won’t be judged for your past, and nothing you say will shock me. I work with people experiencing loneliness and disconnectedness, anxiety, low mood, shame, trauma, identity and values concerns, burnout, and difficulties linked to stigma or past offending. You can expect a calm, grounded space, a collaborative plan, and therapy that helps you build lasting change. I continue to work full time in the NHS as a clinical lead, which keeps my training current and grounded in real‑world complexity. My private work is a small, values‑led extension of that—an opportunity to share what I’ve learned with people beyond my NHS teams. I’ll be opening to new clients in early April and am happy to offer a free video or phone chat to see how it feels to work together.

Training and qualifications

I trained at the University of Hertfordshire, with specialist placements in services supporting people through complex and high‑risk situations. Those early years—in forensic LD, community forensic work and secure hospitals—shaped my calm, steady way of working. I’ve since completed a CBT diploma, extensive ACT and CFT training, and a diploma in restorative justice, and I keep my practice current through regular CPD. What you can expect is a values‑led, evidence‑based approach delivered with warmth and clarity (and the occasional American turn of phrase). I have done additional training as a clinical supervisor with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and through the University of Hertfordshire.
