About me
I have worked with many different clients supporting them with a range of issues from Anxiety, Depression, Suicidal Ideation, Personality Disorders, OCD, Trauma and Attachment Issues. I work in a person-centred way to firstly build up a client relationship. I feel that it is highly important to focus on being empathic, non-judgemental and to provide a committed trusting relationship when I work with clients. I am a parent to children who are neurodiverse with Autism and ADHD. I have an understanding what it is like to be a parent who is in need of support. I have had many times where I have been through times of distress, not knowing where to get help and being overwhelmed with everyday life. I am here for you if you are a parent that needs to have a voice and connect with a therapist that 'gets it' when it comes to having awareness of how you may feel. Its OK to not be OK. However, there is no need to be alone in this, I am here to share with you my time, warmth, compassion and understanding of what as challenging you at the moment. Together we can work it out. I encourage you to believe in yourself and your importance to reach out for support especially with therapists, like me, who care about how important you are. Once this is established, I will work on integrating different theories in the work that we are doing. This helps to focus in an in-depth way on a clients presenting issues. I am Humanistic in my orientation which means that I believe that everyone is unique and has the ability to develop themselves in order to grow and change in relationship. I also use theories from psychodynamic, gestalt, cognitive behavioural therapy, to name a few, to create awareness of what is happening for the client and also ways of coping in situations that they are finding distressing. I believe in consistency and boundaries in the therapeutic relationship, so that a client feels seen and heard, but also has a reliable 'other' than is not going to abandon them when life becomes challenging. I like to be creative in therapy and use art as a medium to facilitate an understanding and deeper connection to the self. It is so insightful to learn what processes are going on at a deeper level and how to unpick them in the therapeutic alliance.
