About me

I’m Melissa, a pluralistic counsellor offering a compassionate space to explore grief, trauma and self-discovery. I understand that trauma, stress and emotion can stay held in our bodies as well as our thoughts and I believe healing begins when we feel seen, understood and reconnected to ourselves. I see therapy as a process of rebuilding trust in yourself and learning to listen to the signals your mind and body give you. My aim is to offer a space where you can explore what’s painful while also reconnecting to your strength, resilience and self-trust. I offer a free 20 minute inital chat over the phone to discuss what brings you to therapy, answer any questions and see if you feel we would be a good fit before arranging a full session.

Training and qualifications

I completed my MSc in Counselling at Abertay University, where I trained in a pluralistic approach. This means I will draw from a range of approaches to tailor sessions to each individual. My experience includes working as a youth worker, supporting young people with challenges such as anxiety, trauma and abuse, as well as providing counselling to students navigating life transitions, identity and self-esteem. I have also supported adults facing grief, trauma, anxiety, and relationship difficulties. I have particular experience as a bereavement counsellor with Cruse Scotland, including working with individuals affected by suicide bereavement which is an area of focus for my practice.
