About me

I am aware that coming to therapy is a big step. Building a trusting and supportive relationship is very important to me, as is helping you develop a sense of safety. I see our work as a shared process of listening and communicating. Often we can understand situations better when we view them from a distance – I am here to offer you this outside perspective. It can feel liberating to talk things through openly with someone you don’t know. In the safety of confidential conversations we can begin to uncover and gently confront the thoughts, feelings, and residues of past experiences that may be restricting you in the present. Therapy offers an opportunity to reflect on personal concerns and difficulties, creating space for self-understanding and healing. Together, we may rediscover parts of yourself that have been hidden or locked away, and explore the patterns and repetitions in your life that might be unhelpful and that shape how you relate to yourself and others. I would like to hear your story and open the space for a compassionate dialogue. My hope is to support you in developing into the person you wish to become so that life can be more enjoyable. ______________________________________________ Some of my clients seek therapy when they’re facing moments of change, uncertainty, or emotional strain, this can be: Relationship challenges – coping with separation, managing family dynamics or sibling tensions, navigating the ups and downs of parenting or caring for ageing parents, or adjusting as children leave home. Sometimes it’s about dating and finding love, or the quiet struggle with self-doubt and body image. Coping with loss – grieving a loved one, facing the loss of youthfulness, or coming to terms with the changes that come with menopause and ageing. This can also mean living with the pain of miscarriage or abortion, or the sadness that comes from losing a dream or hope for the future. Life-changing events – handling big transitions like a change in career, adapting to injury or illness, or processing the emotions that come with a diagnosis or new awareness. Even positive changes can stir up unexpected feelings of relief, confusion, or distress. Feeling disconnected – experiencing loneliness or a loss of belonging, sometimes linked to social anxiety, depression, or a move to a new place. Starting over in a different country, culture, or language can be exciting yet deeply unsettling — a blend of hope for what’s ahead and longing for what was once home. Having settled in this country myself many years ago, I understand that mix of emotions — the excitement of discovering something new alongside the longing for what previously was familiar. It’s a feeling that shapes us, and one we can explore together with curiosity and compassion. ______________________________________________ Integrative psychotherapy and creative approach Integrative means that I can draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, depending on what best supports your needs and our explorations. My approach is humanistic and person-centred, which means that I see the building of a therapeutic relationship as central – a space of trust, curiosity, and reciprocal growth. I don’t have a prepared map for our journey. Every client brings their personal concerns, unique experiences, their individual histories and philosophies, and that is what we will work with. The Creative aspect of therapy offers a safe space to explore and express what words alone often cannot. I often bring various art materials into the therapy room to invite you to make an image or connect with the creative materials in your own personal way. My process does not require you to be “good” at art. It is not about skill, but about rekindling a curiosity to create something which hasn’t existed before. This approach helps develop a freedom and confidence to engage with the world around us while inviting you to rediscover or get in touch with your natural playfulness. ______________________________________________ A bit about me: I am interested in the many ways we can express ourselves – often through words, and sometimes through creative processes when words feel less accessible. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked as a professional dancer, choreographer and lecturer. Movement has always been central to how I experience the world – and with movement comes touch, our earliest form of communication. In therapy, I often work with this notion of being in touch. Through my studies in Body-Mind Centering, a somatic approach, I have become more aware of how perception is an active process, and how sensations can awaken deep, sometimes buried layers of memory and emotion. I sometimes integrate movement and breath work into my practice to support embodied awareness and connection. ______________________________________________ Further areas of work: anger & conflict anxiety, panic attacks, and depression burnout, stress and work related issues career change, loss of work change of country, voluntary/involuntary displacement family difficulties feeling of overwhelm, loneliness, or hopelessness general dissatisfaction, existential questions identity and gender issues loss, bereavement, grief low mood, low self esteem mental health and wellbeing menopause neurodiversity parenting challenges PTSD and trauma relationships ______________________________________________ Memberships: HCPC, BACP, BAAT, FHEA Contact: [email protected] I offer weekly 50-minute sessions, on a long-term or short-term basis.
