About me
My clients tell me that I am a warm, compassionate and supportive counsellor and therapist. I work closely with adults of all ages who are struggling and need support, either due to a specific issue or incident, trauma, or a variety of reasons. I work holistically, always tailoring to the specific needs of my clients. It might include relationship issues or new challenges of another sort, but previous ways of handling things are no longer working. I am an optimistic person and believe it is never too late to make our lives better. It takes courage to commit to therapy. Choosing a therapist with whom we feel comfortable is vital for a successful therapeutic alliance. Together, in your time, we will work towards finding ways to help you manage whatever is troubling you and become the person you want to be. At times, we all feel lost, stuck, unhappy, scared, anxious, sad, angry, overwhelmed, guilty, depressed, or ground down. We cannot always pinpoint specific reasons to explain how we are feeling, which can make daily life difficult and isolating. We do not always want to share our troubles with family and friends, so therapy provides an opportunity to explore feelings and concerns confidentially. Therapy can help us gain a better sense of ourselves, improve our self-esteem and connections with others. Mental and physical health are intrinsically linked, and working with a professional therapist can help make sense of symptoms. Sometimes it can also be useful to explore our early years, but this is not compulsory. Previously, I worked for many years here and overseas, and have a deep understanding of how stress, unhappiness and pain impact us. I have always been keenly interested in human behaviour and therapeutic psychology, which led me to qualify as a therapist. I also volunteer for two charities supporting local vulnerable communities. Please send me an email in the first instance to set up a free phone consultation. I reply to all messages promptly.
