Maeve Begley

Hello! I help children and young people express strong and difficult feelings in a safe, contained and supported way. I use clay, paint, puppets, sand tray, stories, poetry, and music to help my clients make sense of their experiences. As a therapeutic parenting practitioner, I collaborate with parents and carers who may be feeling frustrated or stuck in family life, finding relationships challenging, or dealing with challenging child behaviour. I firmly believe that families can discover their own solutions given time to think and talk in a safe and containing space. My parenting work is based on Theraplay® principles, and I am trained in Video Interaction Guidance (VIG), which I offer as part of my broader parenting practice. I am also a Non Violent Resistance (NVR) practitioner, assisting parents and carers dealing with child-to-parent violence and aggression, addressing safety concerns within the home. I also work with separating and divorcing couples to develop co-parenting plans. I work online or face to face according to the needs of each family. I also work with schools, offering training and support around developing and sustaining emotional regulation for adults and children alike in the classroom. Lots of my parenting work is over Zoom as it's often hard to sort out childcare, parent schedules etc and this is one less thing for you to worry about!
