About me
Compassion is at the heart of my practice. I will listen to you with respect and without judgement, particularly in relation to individual identity and culture. I use evidence-based research to tailor our conversations and a treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I will use a variety of therapeutic modalities to work partnership with you which all evidence-based practices. I work from a person-centred perspective using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support you. I also use Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Externalisation strategies and Schema Therapy. My comprehensive approach means that psychological factors such as attachment theory and loss, as well as cultural and structural considerations, are integrated into my assessments and interventions. I have a depth of experience, not only as a counsellor, but also as a former social work practitioner and as a telephone helpline volunteer and helpline mentor for a women’s support service, supporting adults and young people experiencing marital difficulties, suicidal ideation, and family conflict. I will therefore listen openly and draw on these skills in my counselling practice to support you. I am committed to fostering openness and to build strong therapeutic relationships with you by respecting and listening to your stories and individual needs, especially regarding identity and culture. I value evidence-based research and adhere to the frameworks of British legislation, including the Equality Act 2010. The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework also guides my practice. I continue to receive regular individual and group supervision, which includes case presentations, reflective practice, critical case reviews, knowledge sharing, and ongoing professional development. Your social, emotional, and physical wellbeing is always my priority. I am dedicated to balancing informed consent and confidentiality with a clear understanding of risk and responsibility. I look forward working with you in partnership when we meet in the future. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!
