About me
I am an accredited Integrative psychotherapist and I work across North Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire and Hull and have been working with individuals and their families for over 30 years in various settings including Education, NHS and in Local Authorities. My own therapeutic journey started in the 90's when i completed my first counselling training and led me to develop an interest in psychological and therapeutic practices and research. ***Therapeutic Approaches*** I use many different therapeutic approaches to suit your needs. My aim is to support you in exploring what you need to find balance and restore inner peace. Being curious about your thoughts, feelings, emotions, spirituality and sense of self to help you improve your relationships, mood, emotional regulation, self esteem and confidence. My integrative approach draws on a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and I also incorporate some body awareness and creative therapies, which can help you express and understand what is happening for you in a different way, if that works for you. ***Areas of Specialism*** My specialisms include relationships, emotional regulation, mood, and the effects of adverse childhood experiences and trauma. I am always happy to connect with people who want to explore their experiences or are considering making changes. Please do reach out if you would like to have a conversation about how I can support you. ***Regular Reviews and Commitment to the Process*** I ask that you commit to an initial block of six sessions following your initial consultation. This period gives us both the opportunity to get to know one another and to begin understanding the key issues you are facing. In my experience, six sessions is usually sufficient to gain clarity about your situation and to start identifying what may be helpful for you moving forward. Some people feel that this is enough and for some their therapeutic journey ends at this point. I appreciate that committing to a series of sessions requires both time, money and energy. For this reason, I incorporate regular review points into our work together. These reviews provide a chance for us to reflect on the progress made, discuss your experiences so far, and consider where you want to go from here. For those engaging in longer-term therapeutic work, I often recommend taking short breaks from therapy. These breaks can be helpful for consolidating what you have learnt during sessions and supporting your emotional development. Pausing in this way allows you to integrate insights and changes, it gives you time to practice some skills before returning to continue our work together, if you wish. ***Flexible Therapy Options*** Sessions can take place online via Zoom, face to face in my home or in an office space within the local area. Alternatively, we could have walk-and-talk sessions if that suits you best. The choice of setting is always tailored to your preferences and needs.
