About me

I run a busy private practice for clients in the Glasgow area and offer face to face, online and telephone counselling. The main challenges that clients bring to me in my practice are their experiences of CPTSD, PTSD, bereavement, loneliness, gender dysphoria, anxiety, emotional and physical neglect and abuse. I have in the past worked regularly with blue light responders and so have much experience in working with CPTSD and how this affects a person's day to day life. Through our sessions we work together to help them move forward from the pain they are carrying which will affect them as a whole person; physically, emotionally and cognitively. Being a therapist energises me and I feel privileged to work with people who are brave enough to share their deepest fears and wants in order to understand themselves better and to move forward emotionally. For the last 35 years, I have worked as a professional musician and educator, working creatively with adults and children. I have found that when it's difficult to find the words to express ourselves, bringing creativity into the therapy session can offer a different outlet to explore and make sense of our emotions and behaviours. I completed my Counselling Certificate with Cosca through Strathclyde University and have a PG Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy with Persona through Aberdeen University. I have an advanced diploma qualification in working with Polyvagal theory in Person Centred Counselling. I am at present in training to become a Counselling Supervisor.

Training and qualifications

I am a Person Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist and completed my Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Strathclyde and Aberdeen Universities. I have accessed much additional training in Trauma Recovery, Grief and Bereavement and the advanced use of Polyvagal Theory in Person Centred therapy. My knowledge and learning has enhanced my work with clients struggling with CPTSD, PTSD and ADHD. I have much experience of working with clients employed by the emergency services and clients who have suffered childhood neglect and abuse. I am committed to offering them the tools to understand their nervous system responses and begin healing alongside their therapy sessions. I also work regularly with clients living with gender dysphoria, anxiety and bereavement.
