About me

The core of my therapeutic work includes a humanistic dialogue that plays an integral role with my natural way of being and has always guided my therapeutic sessions, alongside Clarkson’s (1989) integrative model. I have 15 years experience within the mental health arena, which became enhanced from 6-years of continual professional development at the University of Central Lancashire. This enabled a firm knowledge base of integrative psychotherapy from undergraduate to postgraduate level 7 and bought the skills and competencies required to secure my current role within the NHS and private practice. I have continued professional development in the form of Counselling for Depression (CFD) as per NHS IAPT competencies, alongside the integration of Shadow work and Polyvagal theory. This has allowed me to draw upon philosophical, psychological and biological concepts that complements my humanistic way of being that can enhance the focus on the body's role within emotional regulation and social connection and encompasses the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. This I feel emphasises the importance of a holistic view of my clients, while safely offering the integration of self and parts that perspective clients may consider as undesirable. To explore your life script builds awareness that evokes resilience and robustness during times of psychological suffering or distress and can help improve mood, outlook, self esteem and worth, while reducing sensations of anxiety and become viscerally aware of your body’s responses to both fear and safety. Integrative psychotherapy allows me to offer a theoretical and systemic framework that reduces the limitations of psychoanalysis, humanistic/experiential and behavioural/cognitive interventions alone. This ultimately can maximise my use of self within short term therapy and promotes best outcomes for all perspective clients with mild, moderate and complex psychological difficulties.
