About me
How Can Therapy Help? You may be going through difficulties which are preventing you from being productive at work or is interfering with important relationships. This might leave you feeling worried or depressed and it might be hard to cope with feelings of anger, low self-esteem or shame as a result. It can be lonely struggling with mental distress and can sometimes be hard to see an end or a way out. Psychotherapy can help to stabilise things in the short term and manage those underlying issues that might be causing you stress leading to a more positive outlook on life. People who I work with find not only do the difficulties with which they first come to therapy improve, but that they gain a more confident sense of self, are more effective at work and are able to develop and maintain more meaningful relationships. It can be daunting to start therapy and figure out who you might want to see or what kind of therapy might suit you best. Do get in touch for a free initial call for us to think together about what brings you to therapy and for you to get a sense of what this kind of therapy is like. What is This Kind of Psychotherapy About? I specialise in psychodynamic also known as psychoanalytic psychotherapy which works in depth with unconscious processes that are outside of our immediate awareness. This type of therapy can be especially helpful for more long term difficulties that might have their beginnings in early life, deeper rooted and ongoing relationships or challenging work situations. I offer short term and more long term in-depth psychotherapy. About Me I have worked in mental health in the NHS, forensic services, the charity sector and higher education for over 13 years. In addition to my private practice in London Bridge and Greenwich, I work as a senior psychotherapist in the NHS as the psychological professional lead for a London borough's community service. I trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Tavistock and within the NHS before this working as a medical doctor, qualifying in 2012. I am an independent researcher most recently publishing a book called Meditation for Psychotherapists. I also lecture at London South Bank University on their Mental Health and Clinical Psychology postgraduate MSc course.
