How Therapists Can Help Their Clients Stop Smoking

Sep 5, 2018

Welldoing.org has been approached by Cancer Research UK to introduce our therapists to their free online course 'Talking About Cancer: Reducing Risk, Early Detection and Mythbusting'.

The facts about cancer are startling: one in two of us will develop cancer in our lifetimes, but around four in 10 cases of cancer could be prevented, largely through lifestyle changes such as smoking cessation.

Therapists already know that conversations can save lives. And talking about cancer can make a real difference in helping people reduce their risk and take positive action for their health.

The three-week online course will show therapists how to:

    • Encourage people to be aware of what's normal for their body and visit a doctor promptly with any concerns
    • Have effective, supportive conversations about health in general
    • Empower people to reduce their cancer risk

Sign up now at po.st/cruktac_welldoing. You can start learning any time, on any computer or smart device.

We'd also love to know what mental health professionals think of the course, and whether they feel that this kind of course is relevant to work as a therapist. Please feel get in touch at [email protected] with any comments or questions.
