About Me

A Warm Welcome!

I am an experienced Counsellor and work with a range of clients from all walks of life. I offer therapy in London SE1 and Hayes UB3. Alongside Counselling I offer workshops on personal development and assist in workshops for Counsellors in training at the Psychosynthesis Trust.

Who is therapy for?... Everyone!

There is a lot that holds us back from trying out therapy, there is a common misconception we fall into believing you have to harbour huge problems or issues to go and speak with a therapist. With such misconceptions in our society it can be hard to see that therapy isn’t only for the select few, rather it is for everyone. It is entirely ordinary to be anxious and confused, at times challenged by relationships and family life, work situations and the direction of our career or life paths. So with this in mind it is actually entirely normal for people to come to therapy.

Why Therapy?

There is often concern about divulging your inner life to a complete stranger, many people may question whether it is better to talk to a friend or family.

With me you meet someone who has no prior expectations of who you are and how you should be, I simply listen and am trained to guide you through the process of self-knowledge, which often leads you to becoming more "you". Through talking we unfold what prohibits you from becoming the best version of yourself by seeking out your hidden potential which often lies behind all the problems we face. It is often the case that the issues we have are structures created by us in our own mind, these structures (particular way of being) usually develops from earlier times in our lives and perhaps once had a serving purpose for us. However it often starts to limit us as we begin to seek change and a different sense of self. Through talking what may also emerge are patterns and ways in which we repeatedly behave and react, we can learn from our own patterns and gain deeper insights about ourselves, continuously growing our awareness and consequently having more choice for the ways we might choose to be in the future.

This is what makes therapy so valuable as most problems come from not really knowing how our mind works. As a therapist I am trained to know and understand the mind and how it works, why we act the way we do and think the way we do, how to process difficult emotions and get connected with your inner resources that can help you face such dilemmas with more confidence in your life.

Our Aim:

Our aim in therapy is to increase self-awareness particularly around the matter you choose to discuss. This can often include a range of things, such as understanding the patterns in your mind that hold you back from being who you want to be, we might go on to explore particular career or relationship choices, and why we feel so hurt in times of rejection or failure. Along the way I look to help you build skills, these are skills that are deeply embedded in you and are your hidden potential waiting to emerge from the difficult situations you find yourself in. Through this process you can build effective life skills and learn to create a more fulfilling life for yourself.

In therapy you can trust that you are working through your own process with someone who has diligently worked on their own process. Therefore I not only trust the results of therapy for myself, and use it in everyday personal life but I am confident to apply its principles to people from all walks of life. Therapy is not limited to people from particular cultures, backgrounds or distressing life stories alone, rather it is a way to maintain and at times regain mental health.

I am trained to work with a wide range of issues, some benign and some which could be more complex. Whether the issues you face are big or small, all issues are welcome and are equally valid. You are welcome to contact me to book a consultation in which we can discuss your particular need from therapy.

Initial Contact:

You are welcome to contact me through this site where we can then book an initial consultation in which we can explore your concerns in more depth. In the consultation I will ask you questions to better understand your world and your concerns. After the initial consultation we can book further sessions if you decide you will like to commit to therapy.

Therapy sessions take place on the same time each week (at least once a week) as the psyche needs regularity for it to really be effective.

Working together:

I offer an open ended style of therapy so you can take your time to explore issues you are concerned about and approach them with as much time needed. I also see clients face to face in London UB3 and SE1, and offer counselling via Skype and phone.

I feel it is essential to build an open and trusting relationship with your therapist for therapy to actually work, so I encourage honesty, trust, respect, and a willingness to engage with an open mind and heart.

I have had my core training in Psychosynthesis Counselling which is an integrative model, however I draw upon various schools of Psychology such as Gestalt, Jungian, Transpersonal, Archetypal and tailor my approach to suit the needs of my clients at the time.

If you feel you would like to know more about me and how I work you can either contact me directly or visit my website www.nakitacounselling.com
