Marianne Johnson Integrative psychotherapist , W1W

Hello. I'm a qualified integrative therapist and member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, working in private practice in central London.

Prior to setting up my private practice I have worked in a GP practice and a university counselling service.

There is a growing awareness of the need to support our mental wellbeing. Squashing down our uncomfortable feelings and fears usually only provides temporary relief and while confronting your true feelings is not always an easy process, embarking on therapy can be a transformative experience.

About me

Being an integrative counsellor means I am trained in a number of therapeutic approaches which I draw upon to find the most appropriate way to work with you.

I offer both short term counselling and longer-term psychotherapy. My intergrative approach incorporates psychodynamic, humanistic, body psychotherapy, attachment theory and contemporary relational psychotherapy models.

I have experience in treating a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, addiction, panic attacks, sexual abuse, low self-esteem, identity issues, self harm and eating issues.

We all hold parts of ourselves which can feel elusive, or even deeply painful. By working together in therapy we can explore these shadow sides to soften their hold, breathing life into heathier ways of living and relating.

Training and qualifications

I have a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), abiding by their code of ethics in practice.

Additional training in: trauma, death and bereavement, childhood sexual abuse and self harm and suicide (The Minster Centre, 2014-2016).

I am particularly interested in seeing emotional and psychological problems in the context of the body and mind as a whole system and I am currently undertaking a piece of research exploring different impacts of yoga from a psychotherapeutic perspective.

Therapeutic theory is ever developing and I am committed to increasing my knowledge and absorbing new ways of working by keeping up to date with the latest research.

My fees £70 (Oxford Circus) per 50 minute session.
