About Me

I am a qualified therapist specialising in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and hypnotherapy. Scientifically proven to help with a wide range of problems, this highly effective therapy focuses on helping to change the irrational ways of thinking and unhelpful beliefs we develop about ourselves and our world, which are at the root of emotional distress. My previous life experiences, including many years working in business, bring an understanding of the real world and empathy for my clients' problems which is an invaluable part of my approach.

I treat all forms of anxiety (including OCD), low confidence/self esteem, depression, anger, relationship issues, insomnia, work stress and any problems making day to day life difficult to cope with. Based in Putney, London SW15, I see clients from all over London and beyond, specialising in adults and teenagers. See my website www.louisecarroll.co.uk for full details and testimonials. Skype and telephone consultations are also high effective for people living further afield.

CBT can be applied to all sorts of problems in addition to those outlined above, including panic attacks, health anxiety, performance anxiety, blushing, exam stress and general anxiety disorder. I provide a supportive, confidential and non-judgmental environment in which to explore concerns and issues, balanced with warmth, intelligence - and quite often, humour. Counselling is an invaluable part of the overall process for my clients.

As a qualified hypnotherapist, I may also use hypnosis as part of the CBT process or to address specific issues and conditions. It creates a state of deep relaxation that enhances and reinforces the change process. Hypnosis can be compared to being in a dream-like state and is a nurturing, strengthening experience from which many people gain immense benefits.

Fully trained and qualified in CBT, hypnotherapy, counselling and coaching, I use an integrated approach to create solutions for each individual's unique needs, working to make lasting changes for the better. This may draw upon techniques used in Mindfulness, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) if appropriate. The strategies I use are designed to help my clients manage their minds and emotions effectively both in the short and the long term.

Other areas treated include weight management, addictions, habit breaking, phobias (including fear of flying) and smoking cessation, which can be achieved in one session.

I hope this provides a useful overview of my approach - do call for a chat or email me for more information.
