About Me

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and registered member of the BACP.  I work with adults on a short or long-term basis, and with a range of issues and concerns.  I offer daytime appointments, including early mornings, which are  50 minutes and usually weekly.

How I work:

I believe it is essential to offer a counselling service where you feel supported and safe to explore whatever concerns you. I feel a trusting relationship between client and counsellor is vital. I also believe that counselling can provide a place for you to explore your concerns at your pace, in confidence, and be listened to fully, which often doesn't happen in our daily lives.  By ‘listened to fully’ I mean without judgement or disruption.  Together, we can gain understanding to help you. Counselling is a two-way process, and I work in a collaborative and enabling way. My role isn’t to tell you what to do; I may gently challenge you, or offer insights or observations, but without being authoritative.

As an integrative counsellor, I work in the way that is most suitable to you.  I will draw on a number of established counselling and therapeutic approaches depending on your needs.  I don’t have a fixed or predetermined way of working therefore, as everyone is different and what helps one person may not suit you. We may explore behaviours, beliefs, feelings or habits that are concerning you, which may involve looking at past or present relationships or how past relationships affect you now.  I work holistically, which may include exploring thoughts, emotions and bodily feelings, as our physical sensations can help us understand what is going on for us. I also may suggest creative tools such as drawing or writing, or visualisation. How we work will be agreed between us.

My experience:

I have experience in a private clinic and through voluntary work.  In addition to my private practice, I currently work for two other organisations. Before training to become a counsellor, I worked in marketing and creative services. I have been employed in large and small companies, and in voluntary organisations, which gives me an understanding of workplace issues.

I have worked with clients from a range of backgrounds and circumstances, and with a variety of issues including: addiction, anger, anxiety, bereavement, depression, domestic abuse, eating disorders, family issues, low self-confidence, moods, panic attacks, parenting, phobias, procrastination, relationship issues, self-harm, sexual abuse, sexuality, shame, social anxiety, stress, suicidal thoughts, and trauma.
