Jay Rai Cognitive behaviour therapy psychotherapist , EC2M
Solution-oriented empowerment therapy:
If you are looking for a therapy that goes beyond talk and focuses on long-term change, rather than continually reviewing your past, then my approach is for you. I work quickly and collaboratively to mobilise your strengths and resources to empower you to solve your own problems. I offer solution focussed therapy and my philosophy is to ensure that you develop the skills to create mastery over your own life. My overall aim is to help you become your own therapist.
How I work:
My immersive energy brings a very unique approach to traditional therapy. Together, we apply behavioural therapy alongside cutting edge scientific techniques to reframe negative thinking and behaviours. Our sessions go deep into your core belief system, and it is at this layer we achieve lasting emotional and behavioural change. I am also a passionate advocate for mindfulness and regularly interweave this into our work.
I moved from a long and successful career in financial economics within investment management to pursue my life-long passion in this field. My personal journey, education and experience informs the way I connect to, understand and ultimately help people facilitate lasting emotional and behavioural change.

Training and qualifications
Clinical expertise and education:
I have a strong background using integrative and person-centred therapeutic approaches within my private practice. In addition, I work with a private drug & alcohol rehabilitation clinic in Notting Hill where I support clients suffering with addiction (including severe anxiety and depression). Here I apply cutting edge intervention techniques (in addiction treatment) by facilitating group therapy and psycho educational workshops.
I also work in partnership with Battersea Yoga & Wellness studio as their dedicated Self-Empowerment Therapist, holding regular educational seminars and workshops in addition to private therapy sessions.
Previously, I have worked at the UK-renowned Priory clinic.
As well as being a qualified and experienced CBT/REBT therapist (a combination of cognitive therapy and behavioural psychotherapy), I am completing an MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health with The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN) at Kings College London.
I have successfully treated a wide range of problems including, but not limited to:
• Emotional problems; including anxiety, depression, hurt, guilt, shame, anger, jealousy and envy
• Relationship issues
• Addictions; including drug, alcohol, gambling, gaming, self harm, co-dependency and food addictions
• Lack of confidence and low self esteem
• Finding the motivation to make sustainable changes
• Bereavement and loss
• Spiritual crisis or loss of meaning in life.
I offer a free 20 minute initial Skype/FaceTime consultation where we can briefly discuss your requirements and how I might be able to help you.
