About Me

How Can I Help?

Having trained as a psychotherapist and medical doctor, I have a wealth of experience working with people struggling with distress for the past 12 years. I have 15 years of meditation experience informing my presence as a warm and confident therapist enabling clients to bring experiences that they might find particularly challenging.

People who I work with find not only do the difficulties with which they first come to therapy improve, but that they gain a more confident sense of self, are more effective at work and are able to develop and maintain more meaningful relationships.

It can be daunting to start therapy and figure out who you might want to see or what kind of therapy might suit you best. Do get in touch for a free initial call for us to think together about what brings you to therapy and for you to get a sense of what this kind of therapy is like.

I specialise in psychodynamic also known as psychoanalytic psychotherapy which works in depth with unconscious processes that are outside of our immediate awareness. This type of therapy can be especially helpful for more long term difficulties that might have their beginnings in early life, deeper rooted ongoing relationships or challenging work situations.

I have additional training and experience in:

·       · Intercultural psychotherapy so can help with the impacts of expectations around gender, sexual orientation, race, class and religion

·       · Being familiar with the challenges of trauma, self harm and suicidality from working in an NHS crisis service

·       · Physical health having worked as a medical doctor with an in depth appreciation of the bidirectional connection between physical and mental health

·       ·  Supporting people who have experienced historical or recent sexual violence and domestic violence from training and working as a sexual violence liaison officer

·       · The challenges that might arise from a service user accessing support from work as a mental health advocate

·       · Working with service users and their families grappling with the experience of end of life from working at a hospice.

Fees are £85 per session. I have some low fee availability for students and people on low income.

About Me

In addition to my private practice, I work in the NHS in an acute mental health inpatient and community service. I have over twelve years' experience working in mental health in the NHS, forensic services, the charity sector and higher education.

I trained in Intercultural Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the Tavistock NHS Trust. Before this I worked as a medical doctor, qualifying in 2012.

I am registered  with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and with the Tavistock Society of Practitioners as a psychodynamic psychotherapist.

I have a book being published this year by Routledge called Meditation for Psychotherapists.  I also lecture at London South Bank University on their Mental Health and Clinical Psychology MSc course.
