Integrative psychologistAbout Me
I am a psychologist and addiction counsellor. I offer short and long term counselling and psychotherapy using an integrative therapeutic approach, depending on each client's individual needs.
My therapeutic approach is based on client-centred therapy offering active listening while empathising with clients in a non-judgmental environment to support them to increase their level of self-awareness as well as becoming more self-reflective towards their behaviours. I also use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is a more goal orientated approach that focuses mainly on here and now. It helps clients to identify their unhelpful thought processes and replacing them with helpful ones. Our thoughts trigger our feelings and the feelings trigger our behaviours. Therefore, by changing our thinking patterns we can change our behaviours. My approach aims to provide a safe environment, respectful of each person's capacity for personal growth. Each individual's therapeutic process is unique which takes place within a confidential and non-judgmental setting.
I am a full member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and Federation of Drug & Alcohol Professional (FDAP) and a BACP registered member (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy).
I have been working within the NHS since 2013 in the field of addiction seeing clients for one to one therapy mainly as well as offering psycho-educational group sessions.
I am experienced at working with a range of issues including: Depression, Anxiety, Low Self-Esteem, Assertiveness, Shame & Guilt, Drug & Alcohol Addiction, Relapse Prevention & Coping Strategies.
As well as English I speak Persian/Farsi and Turkish.
