  • The physiotherapist went on a mission to understand how the nervous system played into so many of her client's problems – the book is the culmination of that work


Physiotherapist and neurophysiology expert Jessica Maguire wants to help you understand the root cause of many of our health issues – a dysregulated nervous system. In The Nervous System Reset, Maguire explains why your vagus nerve is key to emotional, digestive and physical health, and how to engage it to help reset your nervous system. 

When working as a physiotherapist, Maguire says: "I ended up working with a lot of patients who had chronic conditions, and I felt like I was only seeing what was above the water, like an iceberg. I knew for a lot of people with chronic pain, anxiety, back issues, that there was a lot going on beneath the surface of the water". And so, she closed her own clinic to embark upon further training to help her understand the true impact of the nervous system on our health. 

The book offers a deep-dive into understanding the different states of the nervous system; it's relatively complex stuff, but Maguire has a knack for explaining things simply. We've chosen this book as our Book of the Month because we know how important this work is, for our therapist and counsellors members, for their clients, and for anyone who is interested in supporting their mental health.
