Laura French
Psychodynamic counsellorAbout Me
Perhaps you feel stuck; trapped in a life that is not how you want it. Coping mechanisms that helped in the past are now stopping you from doing the things you would like to. Perhaps you crave meaningful connections but struggle in you relationships with others. Current events or traumas from the past are holding you back and you don’t fully understand what you are feeling or what to do about it. Whatever has lead you to seek out more information about talking therapy, I strongly believe that together we can create a safe, confidential space to think about what is happening for you and what could change.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy differs from other types of talking therapy in that we will think deeply about how events from the past affect the ways you behave and relate to others now, sometimes in unconscious ways you might be unaware of, and how they have shaped your internal world. There are no tasks or homework and the space is yours to talk about whatever is on your mind. Together we will try to make sense of what you bring and how it relates to your issues. Starting therapy can be a very daunting idea but it is my aim to provide a space that feels safe and meaningful where lasting change can happen.
