PsychotherapistAbout Me
I believe that we all have the potential to take charge of our lives and that the therapeutic relationship can work to harness that power. Celebrating the best parts of ourselves can help us to grow or change the parts we are less confident about.
I am a warm, compassionate and empathetic humanistic psychotherapist and counsellor. I work with individuals and couples and provide a safe and confidential space to talk through whatever brings you to this point in your life. Therapy takes the form of a conversation between the two/three of us where I work to support you on your exploration to find a more satisfying way of being. Therapy can help us at many times in our lives. We may start when we are struggling with life and feel stuck in patterns of behaviour that no longer work for us. You may want to bring any unresolved issues, current difficulties or hopes for the future.
Working as a humanistic psychotherapist and counsellor means that I see you as an individual: someone who is made up of a body, emotions, thoughts, sensations and perceptions with your own unique experience of life, one that only you know. There is no set number of sessions and therapy can be brief (6-8 sessions) or long-term.
Before training to be a Psychotherapist, I spent 23 years working as an actor in film, television, theatre and radio. This career of observing the human condition fuelled my interest in people and how the mind works, why we do the things we do and how our interior world manifests itself in our behaviour and the space we take in the world around us.
I have a particular interest in our interior as human beings and how we express ourselves in the interior space in which we live.
I feel particularly attuned to the sensitivities of children and issues to do with childhood. Through my professional experience I have a great understanding of the uncertainty and joy that comes with freelance creative careers and how that can affect our self-esteem and world-view.
