Valerie Hargrave
Integrative counsellorAbout Me
I qualified in 2012 and have been working in private practice since 2013. I became an accredited therapist with BACP in 2018 and I am also a qualified counselling supervisor. I have worked as a volunteer counsellor at the Brit School in Croydon and also at IDAS (Integrated Drug and Alcohol Services)in Battersea.
I have found that some people try to protect those they love so they try to cope with their problems on their own, unfortunately sometimes they find that this means they end up neglecting their own needs. My aim is to provide a safe, confidential space for people who have found that their usual strategies for coping have started to become less helpful or perhaps even harmful to them. I am an experienced practitioner, working with a number of different counselling models to find a way that is most helpful to the client.
I work from my home in Purley, a 10 minute walk from Purley Station, and on the 412 bus route. There is parking available directly outside the premises. Sessions are available throughout the week including Saturdays and Sundays. I work mostly face to face but I have experience of working both on the phone and remotely using Skype and FaceTime. As I work from my home I am able to work flexibly, sessions do not have to be at the same time every week and I am also happy to consider working fortnightly or monthly once a strong therapeutic alliance has been achieved in the early sessions.

Fees
My standard fee for an initial assessment is £60, this session lasts approximately 75 to 80 minutes. Further ongoing sessions cost £50 per session.
The initial session is designed for you to talk about what is happening for you and to enable you to decide whether you would like to meet for further sessions. Please feel free to discuss your individual circumstances with me at the initial session. I offer reduce fees for student psychotherapists.
