Una Cavanagh Integrative counsellor , SN11

I'm a BACP accredited counsellor working one -one with adults and young people over the age of 16. I'm based in my own private practice set in a pretty and peaceful location convenient for Calne, Marlborough and Devizes.

Many years ago, I experienced incredibly helpful support through counselling during a challenging and difficult time in my life. The memory of being really listened to without being judged and with compassion and understanding has never left me so, after several years working in the travel industry, I decided to hang up my wings and retrain as a therapeutic counsellor myself to help support others who may be experiencing difficulties in their lives.

After qualifying, I trained further and gained experience supporting victims of rape/sexual violence as well as domestic abuse with Victim Support. I worked for a more general counselling charity too, offering help for people with many different presenting issues, such as depression and anxiety and volunteered as a bereavement counsellor for a local hospice

I am also an adoption counsellor for Link Support at Barnardos, working with any adults affected by adoption issues.

Being BACP accredited means that I have met their "higher standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner".

How I can help you

When it comes to counselling, I believe that there is no "one size fits all" and therefore my professional approach is integrative. This recognises that everyone is unique and I able to draw on different elements of theoretical approaches from my training such as psychodynamic, transactional analysis and CBT to suit each different client.

There are so many different reasons why people come for counselling and no set of circumstances or problem is too small if it’s having a negative impact on you, how you feel and how it affects your life. Coming to counselling with someone who will not judge you or offer advice about what they would do in certain situations can be incredibly empowering and offers clarity and enlightenment. It can help you to move forward and become “unstuck”.

My aim is to provide you with the time and space to be fully heard, without judgement, to work alongside you to make sense of what’s going on in your life and to help you to find a clearer path forward.
