About Me

As a UKCP registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, I offer a contained, explorative space to talk through a variety of difficulties ranging from everyday struggles with work and relationships to troubling concerns about sense of identity and psychological distress.

I have a passionate interest in psychoanalysis, philosophy and critical psychiatry, and have worked both within the NHS and privately in a variety of therapeutic fields over a number of years.

I have experienced therapeutic encounters with a vast array of individuals ranging from those who have been deeply troubled by events in their lives to those who have simply felt stuck and in need of growth through gaining greater personal insight and understanding.

I trained with the Philadelphia Association, which was set up by RD Laing and colleagues during the 1960s with the aim of challenging traditional ways of understanding mental and emotional suffering.

I have also worked for many years as a Community Psychiatric Nurse and am aware of the difficulties and challenges faced when seeking the most appropriate kind of help in times of distress.

Some of the thinkers who have influenced my way of working: Martin Heidegger, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Ronald D Laing and Donald Winnicott

Fees

My fee for initial consultations is £40. This is an opportunity for us to meet to think together about the problems facing you, and whether psychotherapy would be helpful. There is no commitment to continue beyond this point unless it feels right to do so, and the hope is to possibly take some insight away from this experience whether you decide to continue or not.

My fee for ongoing therapy is £50-£75 (Negotiable depending on personal circumstances) for a 50 minute session. This could be on an open ended basis, or time limited, with a particular goal to work towards, which we may discuss at the initial meeting.

I also have a number of reduced cost spaces for those on a limited income, but I cannot guarantee this will be possible at any given time.

I can accommodate early morning and evening sessions on some days.
