Therese Taylor Mbacp, Pgdip Trauma & Ptsd
Integrative psychotherapistAbout Me
Are you:
- anxious, overwhelmed, struggling to cope?
- experiencing nightmares, flashbacks and intrusive thoughts and images?
- feeling low, helpless or hopeless?
- had a traumatic event that haunts you no matter how much you try to avoid thinking about it?
I’m Therese, a qualified trauma and PTSD therapist. The heart of my approach is to develop a strong, non-judgemental, therapeutic relationship with you to enable your personal growth and positive change.
I use a variety of evidenced-based tools, techniques and processes that will support you and help you understand why you feel the way you do, but more importantly help you move forwards to live your life the way you want and deserve.
I work in collaboration with you. Your goals are my goals - we will be on this journey together.
Every client is different, and I want to ensure you receive the most appropriate, cost effective and ethical therapeutic treatment I can offer, I’ll undertake an assessment with you to get a baseline measure of where you are now, what's happened in your life and how the symptoms you are experiencing are impacting your day-to-day life.
If your assessment suggests you have PTSD or complex PTSD, I will use trauma-focused therapy that meets NICE* guidelines for working with trauma. For all other assessment outcomes, if you are within my area of competence I will use evidence-based therapeutic processes and practical exercises that will make a positive difference.
Therapy includes:
- psychoeducation on what's happening to you and why
- strategies to manage arousal and flashbacks; safety planning; emotion regulation;
- help to overcome avoidance of people, places, activities to re-establish and enable you to function effectively for your work and social life.
- Free optional follow-up sessions to support ongoing maintenance of your progress
