Therese TaylorIntegrative psychotherapist
Do you feel helpless and hopeless and unable to see a way through?
Is your heart pounding, are you sweating and feeling panicky?
Are you constantly feeling uneasy, worried or fearful?
Are you overwhelmed, struggling to cope?
Perhaps you find yourself avoiding people, places or activities you used to do or enjoy, or having difficulty functioning at work or home?
You may not even remember or know what caused this change, however you know you want things to be better. Let me help you…
I’m Therese, an integrative relational therapist. The heart of my approach is to develop a strong, non-judgemental, therapeutic relationship with you to enable your personal growth and positive change.
I use a variety of tools and evidenced based techniques and therapeutic approaches that will support you to understand yourself, the issues impacting your life today, and how you can get to living your life the way you want and deserve.
I work in collaboration with you – your goals are my goals - we will be on this journey together.
To ensure you receive the most appropriate, cost effective and ethical treatment I can offer, I’ll undertake an assessment with you to get a baseline measure of where you are now, to determine and discuss the most appropriate therapy options with you.
If your assessment suggests* the symptoms you have may indicate the possibility of PTSD or complex PTSD, I will use trauma-focused therapy that meets NICE** guidelines for working with trauma. Therapy will include psychoeducation so you can understand what's happening to you; strategies to manage your emotions, thoughts and behaviour; safety planning and help to overcome avoidance and support low mood so you can re-establish adaptive functioning for your work and social life. The number of sessions will be determined by your personal circumstances and the severity of the symptoms you are experiencing.
I have received formal training to use the evidenced-based therapeutic processes I use and tend to use a minimum of 3 processes with my clients to achieve maximum benefit. All I ask is for your commitment to do the work needed to help you move forward in your life for the better. You will gain new strategies, tools and techniques that you will be able to use beyond working with me.
I provide short and long-term therapy for adults. Options for delivery are online via Zoom or WhatsApp. Following Covid-19 face-to-face in Twickenham, Richmond and surrounding areas will resume subject to room booking availability.
I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation as an opportunity for you to:
* give an overview of your situation
* explore how I can help you
* determine if you want to work with me
If you do, then we will schedule your first session.
* I do not diagnose PTSD/CPTSD, however assessments used may indicate symptoms could potentially relate to these disorders
OnlineI also provide my services online.
