I have experience working with people bringing a wide range of concerns including: burn-out; relationship difficulties; depression, post-natal depression; change-of-identity impact such as becoming a parent, divorce, marriage, ageing; loss and bereavement.

I have worked with people who have experienced trauma, either as a one-off event or during their early lives such as going to into care or boarding school.

Short term therapy is usually 12 weekly sessions, and can be highly effective. Longer-term therapy can be a commitment, working through previous attachment patterns to change in an enduring way.  People find that weekly therapy supports their relationships and helps to manage stress and enable them to function with more stability and confidence.

I use body awareness both myself and with clients as a way of contacting what is rather than fall back on old scripts and habitual thinking and behaving, some of which we acquired unquestioned down the generations.

Gestalt therapy brings awareness to unfinished situations 'held' in our bodies, taking up energy and holding us back.  This material becomes available when we have sufficient support to work with it, and from there you can feel as though a block has been removed and new creative choices become available to you.  Once we start to know how to be aware, we find what was previously ignored or dismissed has relevance, and with incorporation we feel better with more energy and vitality for life.

The therapeutic space allows for new possibilities, awareness and creative growth, and much of this is down to the work the therapist has done themselves and how the therapeutic relationship affords trust and containment for the client.  I also use systemic theory to aid understanding of how our family and social context affects our functioning.

I have been a practitioner for Mind, and with the NHS for several years.  I have comfortable practice rooms in Highgate and in the Old Street/Kings Cross area and am happy to discuss how you would like your therapy to work for you.
