About Me

My background

I am registered practitoner with the Health professional council and the british association of drama therapists. I am experienced working with both children, young people and adults and have specialised in special needs and learning disabilities,

My background has been in theatre.  I joined  the ‘Orion Theatre’, a children’s theatre based in Hastings, East Sussex. The company put on plays and ran educational workshops for schools around the country.

Later I ran drama workshops for both local primary children, special needs children as well as adults with learning disabilities.

I previously trained as a social worker and I worked in the field with vulnerable adults their carers and their families in a complex team for many years.

I took time out to train as a drama and movement therapist using the Sesame approach, at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

What I can Offer

Zoom, facetime, skype or  telephone.I am based in South London and my approach is humanistic and person centred.  I work with both adults and children.

In this time of Covid 19 and the pressures that it brings I can offer a safe space by telephone or on line support.  If in person I will follow the covid guidelines and safety measures aswell as offering a confidential space  where we can work together to build a strong working relationship.  I will respect your need to work at your own pace and in your own time. There is no judgement but acceptance of what you bring to the sessions. My first session I will discuss with you what has brought you to recieve therapy and what specifically you feel you would like to explore and the goals you would like to achieve.  We will review the sessions after 6 weeks to see whether the sessions are appropiate for your needs.

In my sessions thereafter and apart from talking  I also use creative resources to encourage expression and communicate, for example, drawings, movement, dance, music, relaxation, stories or objects can often bring a clearer insight into your situations and  problems and more of an awareness to what you would like to achieve for yourself and your situation.
