Sonia Teplanova
Person-centred/humanistic counsellorAbout Me
Hi, I'm Sonia and I am a fully qualified, BACP registered, person-centred therapist based in Manchester City Centre. I've got my Master's qualification in Clinical Counselling from The University of Chester. I've been practising since February 2018 and helped clients from all walks of life, presenting with stress, moderate to severe anxiety and depression levels and other difficulties (trauma, loss, low self-esteem, confidence issues, relationships).
HOW CAN COUNSELLING HELP YOU
If you struggle with depression, anxiety, stress or your confidence and self-esteem are holding you back from living a more fulfilling and happy life, I can help you achieve your mental health goals. I offer a facilitative space where your self-exploration and personal growth are a number one priority.
Together, we can explore anything you feel is concerning you. I will help you understand your feelings, emotions, thoughts and unhealthy patterns that are stopping you from achieving your full potential right now. I will work with you to build self-awareness and awareness of others and to facilitate change and growth within yourself. You will gain the ability to view things from a fresh perspective and to find new, more effective ways of living a more balanced life - emotionally, psychologically, socially and physically.
I will help you grow your own ability to make sense of your experiences so you can find your own way forward in life, regaining control and confidence, and trusting yourself. I am committed to providing a therapeutic space where you can talk in confidence and without a fear of being judged.
IN-PERSON AND ONLINE THERAPY SESSIONS
I offer 1:2:1, face-to-face or online therapy sessions for adults. These can be short-term or long-term interventions depending on your needs and preference.
My counselling practice is based on St. Ann's Square in Manchester City Centre and is easily accessible. All Counselling rooms are very spacious, private and decorated neutrally for your ultimate comfort when you visit for your sessions. Large windows are ideal for plenty of airflow - premises is Covid-19 safe (safety guidelines apply).
Online therapy gives you more flexibility and greater access to therapy, saving time and energy on travel. It also provides an extra layer of anonymity, and it's as effective as face-to-face counselling.
WHAT TO EXPECT
I understand that sharing your personal experiences with a stranger can feel daunting and scary. I offer a space where your struggles will be heard and your mental health will be made a priority. I am here to walk alongside you during your therapy - you are not alone.
I will need your commitment to yourself and to therapy. Having therapy often involves the exploration and processing of painful or unsettling feelings and experiences so you can start living your life without them weighing you down. It requires time, consistency and patience. Although I cannot do the inner work for you, I will support you every step of the way. Talking through your difficulties in an emphatic and non-judgemental space can be a truly cathartic experience.
