About Me

I work with adults as individuals and also couples both face-to-face in Canary Wharf as well as online. I am experienced in helping my clients work through a range of life’s difficulties. This may be long-term struggles (e.g. anxiety, depression, self esteem) or more recent upsetting events (e.g. bereavement, stress, relationship difficulties) or psychological symptoms (e.g. sleep difficulties, panic, anger). I have worked clinically in a number of settings and with clients from a variety of backgrounds and presenting difficulties. These settings have spanned hospital contexts, not-for-profit organisations as well as private practice. I am also very pleased to hear from private individuals considering entering counselling and so I have endeavoured to make my practice as accessible as possible in terms of affordability, disability and diversity.

I have trained to doctoral level in psychology and in addition trained as a psychotherapist. Post qualifying, I went on to do specialist training in working with couples, brief-term trauma therapy (EMDR) as well as third-wave or most recent developments in Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT) such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness (MBCT). You can get more details on my qualifications in the section below.

My therapeutic modality is integrative psychology. This means that I blend approaches and techniques depending on the individual I am working with. I have a special interest in compassion, mindfulness approaches and trauma therapy. I work very collaboratively with my clients and I will review our work together regularly.

I see clients in person at my office near Canary Wharf (5 minutes’ walk from Cabot Square) and also online. Some clients choose to do a blend of in-person and online to suit their schedules or circumstances.

On a more personal note, I am South-African born and have been living in London for the previous 22 years. On relocating myself in the UK, I set about establishing dual career paths. Before dedicating my career to psychotherapy and psychology, I also worked in the pressurised world of the media and communications departments in high-profile organisations. The blend of my two cultural and professional backgrounds helps me bring a grounded and practical stance to what might seem like lofty and inaccessible psychological ideas.
