About Me

Hello, my name is Sharon and I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist offering both long and short term sessions.

During the current pandemic, in order to contain the spread of the virus, I am offering phone sessions or seeing clients online via Zoom. I am not doing any face-to-face sessions until I feel it is entirely safe to do so.  I feel I have a duty of care as a citizen and practitioner that I wish to honour for myself, for you and for those we come into contact with in our daily lives. Working in this way is not for everyone, however, if you want to explore working remotely please read on.

Because each of my clients is unique, an integrative approach allows me to draw on and bring together varied theories most compatible with my personality and that of the client allowing me to keep the work bespoke.  Using an integrative approach permits me to draw upon psychodynamic, humanistic and relational approaches as well as body-psychotherapy.  Working in this way I am able to place you at the heart of the process whilst I fulfil my responsibility to provide a warm empathic environment in which you can feel comfortable and safe: Safe enough for you to trust the space which is key to enable us to build a solid foundation for a collaborative and positive therapeutic alliance.

Whatever the issue might be that first drew you to seeking a therapist, together we can explore these issues to enable you to find a way to better understand yourself.  To better understand where you find yourself in the hope of finding an alternative to suffering, shame and silence.  My aim is to create a confidential, non-judgemental and enabling space that you are encouraged to take full advantage of in order to get to a place where you can change how you judge yourself. Working with sensitivity, our work together might move you closer to a place where the critical, defeating and berating inner voice becomes one of empathy, understanding and compassion.

I have had specialised training in child sexual abuse, death and bereavement, self harm and suicide, eating disorders, sexuality, sexual diversity, and trauma.  I specialise in matters of the heart relating to personal identity, sexuality, difference and diversity, bereavement, loss, mental and sexual abuse, generalised anxiety disorder, depression, issues of low self esteem, relationship issues and work-related anxiety, stress and/or depression.

I believe the relationship between the client and the therapist is the most important therapeutic tool and I therefore encourage you to find someone with whom you feel comfortable. To arrange an initial consultation with me to discuss what brings you to therapy and explore the possibilities of us working together, please contact me either by phone or email.
