Sarah Shubrook
Integrative counsellorAbout Me
I describe myself as an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I draw on a variety of different approaches and ideas to find a style that suits your needs. I offer a compassionate and empathetic space for clients to explore and make meaning of the difficulties they're experiencing. In particular, I focus on the nature of your relationships, to yourself, others and the broader world. Often difficulties arise out of adaptations we've made to challenging life experiences that are no longer helping us. Bringing these patterns into our awareness can often open up new ways of thinking and being in the world, and alleviate distress. Feeling seen and heard is often a healing process in itself.
Having worked for many years in the private sector, I understand the stresses high-intensity environments can evoke and bring this experience to my work. I also bring my academic experience in feminism and I am particularly passionate about supporting women from all backgrounds. I have experience in working with clients across a broad range of women’s health and perinatal concerns.
Difficulties I can help with include relationship problems, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, and loneliness.
Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions I am only able to offer sessions remotely via Zoom.
Beginning counselling often brings up anxieties and questions. I offer an initial 30 minutes phone call free of charge for us to explore if we can work together and to create a space for any questions you might have about the process.
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) working towards full accreditation. I practice in accordance with the professional Code of Ethics of the BACP.
